Formidable season in Færgestræde

It has been a particularly good season for Museum Lolland-Falster's branch in Færgestræde, which consists of Museum Obscurum, Den Gamle Købmandhandel and Nykøbing Falster Tourist Information, which is run by the museum.

In 2022, all three locations had a significant increase in visitor numbers compared to 2021. A total of 17.466 people visited the departments in Færgestræde last year, which is an increase of 59 percent compared to 2021.

There were 6284 who had an experience in the Museum Obscurum compared to 4277 in 2021. This is an increase of 47 percent and the best number of visitors since the exhibition opened in 2017. Almost every fourth visitor to the Museum Obscurum was a person from Germany.

With 5790 inquiries, the Tourist Information also experienced a solid increase of 33 percent compared to the previous year, and a third of all inquiries came from German tourists.

It shows that Covid-19 has seriously released its grip on society. Now people go to museums again to get an experience, and tourists return, which happens to a greater extent than before Covid-19.

The biggest visitor magnet in 2022 was Den Gamle Købmandhandel, which, with 5412 customers, experienced a massive growth of 192 percent compared to the previous year. This is mainly because the Christmas shop in Langgade reopened in November.
