Cultural heritage areas
Around Lolland and Falster, the Palaces and Culture Agency, in collaboration with Museum Lolland-Falster, has designated a number of cultural-historical areas of interest - so-called cultural heritage areas.
The cultural heritage areas contain significant ancient monuments with important knowledge about the activity of the people of the past.
Cultural heritage areas are not in themselves protected, but may contain protected ancient monuments.
A warning to the builder
The cultural heritage areas are intended as an incentive to preserve ancient monuments
The areas must warn planning authorities and potential builders that there are significant ancient monuments in an area that must be examined before a building / construction work can begin.
It may therefore be appropriate to re-evaluate the work so that the ancient monuments are preserved on the site, so that the cost of archaeological research can be avoided or limited.
