Free event: Shrovetide in Maribo

Come to Shrovetide at the Open Air Museum De Gamle Huse!

In the 1500th century, Lent lasted for 40 days and it began with a bang of a feast: Shrove Tuesday. Nothing was saved here and (almost) everything was allowed! Today we still celebrate Shrove Tuesday - and even though a lot has changed, it's still a real holiday!

True to tradition, we hold Shrovetide at the Open-Air Museum De Gamle Huse in Maribo. We knock the cat off the barrel and name the cat king and cat queen. You can decorate your own Shrovetide bun, and there is a nice prize for the best / most original costume.

If you are going to freeze you can warm your fingers and stomach with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa!

So you have a princess, dinosaur or superhero in the house? Or do you just love a silly costume and a fun hat? Come and spend some nice hours with us!

There is free admission for everyone.

Shrovetide is arranged in collaboration with Pabst Bakery and Book and Idea Maribo.
