Concert: Telemann in Kongesalen

Join us for an unforgettable evening with Telemann's beautiful music in the beautiful setting of the Reventlow Museum!

Rarely has a composer been so pleased with his own work as when Telemann mentioned the performance of his 12 Parisian quartets (written 1730-38). In a letter he wrote thus:

“I should mention the admirable performances of my new quartets, but there are no words that can do them justice. They attracted attention both at court and in the city and in a very short time brought me unanimous praise and increased recognition. "

This evening we will experience a selection of Telemann's Paris Quartets, played by some of Denmark's most talented musicians in early music, all playing historical instruments.

  • Winnie Bugge Frandsen, traverse flute
  • Stefanie Barner, baroque violin
  • Hannah Thiel, legs
  • Søren Gleerup Hansen, harpsichord (played on the museum's own original Moschack harpsichord from around 1770).

The concert takes place in the museum's newly restored Royal Hall, where in the candlelight and surrounded by the large royal portraits, you can dream back to when Count Raben played the flute on the balls in Paris and the music flowed through the halls of all the large mansions on Lolland and Falster.
