Raw materials, food and meals have shaped our everyday lives and identities since the dawn of time.
Good growing conditions and the strategic location in the middle of the Baltic Sea have historically made Lolland-Falster Denmark's rich pantry.
Food culture is constantly evolving and varies from place to place. At the same time, food has always been a unifying focal point - a breeding ground for active participation!
With EGN, 'from farm to fork' is not just a chewed phrase, but an active way of working and an expression of an authenticity and closeness that we as a society are increasingly seeking.

EGN is based on the food's ability to gather, support and strengthen the common connection, cohesion and pride based on Lolland-Falster's rich food culture.
With EGN, Museum Lolland-Falster and the food development company KOST will support local food initiatives and add a historical dimension through an interdisciplinary documentation of the islands' historical pioneering role in food and food contexts.
The collaboration between Museum Lolland-Falster and KOST forms the basis for further developing and strengthening a closer connection and exchange between rural and capital.
Not only to ensure an increased network formation, but also with a focus on raising EGN's results in the interdisciplinary collaboration, so that they become visible, lasting and alive both on Lolland-Falster and outside the islands.
During the project, EGN will appoint and support local EGN ambassadors as well as support scholarship projects performed by local actors.
Such initiatives must help to root out the project locally.
EGN's target groups are children and young people in the age group 10-25 years, families and local food actors.
Common to the target groups is that a better knowledge of the potentials of the local food culture is a key to taking active ownership of the local development. The desire to be part of a larger community and be proud of the potential of its local area is the driving force for active participation in the project.
EGN works across generations and disciplines and provides an opportunity to get to know the local nature through a renewed knowledge of old knowledge about nature as a pantry.
• to establish and develop the local food culture on Lolland and Falster as part of the local general education
• to strengthen pride in and ownership of the development of the local area and the potential of the local community through the understanding of local food culture
• to create added value based on the food, the history, the community and the positive narrative contained in the food culture and its constant development
• to focus on local nature and geography as a historical and contemporary backdrop for local raw materials and thereby make visible and increase the synergy between country and city
• to draw attention to increased sustainability and responsible consumption, cf. the UN's world goals, through a focus on region-specific and locally produced raw materials and construction
and community development
• to involve external actors to ensure interdisciplinarity in the collaboration on food and raw materials as a historical theme for the museum - together we stand stronger!
Prior to the EGN project, Museum Lolland-Falster has been in dialogue with the Center for Cultural Evaluation (CKE) at Aarhus University, which will follow the project throughout all three years.
After 1-1½ years, it will be collected and the preliminary evaluation results will be presented and discussed at a small network group seminar with regard to. that the participating actors can already during the project period learn from the experiences gained and the preliminary evaluation results.
When the project is completed after 3 years, the final evaluation will be presented, i.a. in order to be able to bring the experiences gained into play in similar projects in other local areas around Denmark.
CKE will be responsible for both evaluation design, data collection, analysis and reporting.
Museum Lolland-Falster will contribute to this in various ways, but to ensure independent evaluation, it will be CKE that has the last word in relation to evaluation design as well as results and reporting.
It also means that you / I as guests, actors, school students and teachers are involved when we invite to activities and experiences in EGN.
We hand out questionnaires and ask questions. And we know that it can sometimes be a little tiring to have to answer questions when you are in full swing with something fun or cozy - but we still hope that it is received positively.
